Books
I have tons of business books on my reading list and it's starting to get expensive. To save money, I've put some books on hold at the library and I thought I would try the audiobook route. Audible.com is now an Amazon company and it's $7.49/month for 3 months for 1 free audio book a month, there are other plans where you can get more than 1 book a month but I thought if I can get through 1 business book a month I will be ahead of the curve. To do: learn to speed read and speed write would be awesome too!

Here's a list of the books which have been recommended by the Kaufmann Foundation Fasttrac advisors. Since the same books kept cropping up over and over, I thought I would share these with you, if you've read any of these, let me know your thoughts. I started Rework and Cutting the Chaos, will update you guys with my thoughts on those when I finish.

  • E-Myth by Michael Gerber - myths surrounding starting your own business and shows how commonplace assumptions can get in the way of running a business.
  • Awakening the Entrepreneur Within by Michael Gerber - shape your dream into a viable, economically successful company
  • E-Myth Revisited by Michael Gerber
  • Cutting the Chaos: How to Grow a Successful Small Business by Clate Mask and Scott Martineau (co-founders of Infusionsoft - they want to be the Quickbooks of Sales & Marketing software, it's a local AZ company which has email automation and CRM software targeted at small businesses)
  • Built to Last by Jim Collins - create a company culture or core values
  • Good to Great by Jim Collins
  • Social Media Bible by Lon Safko
  • Rework by Jason Fried (Signal v. Noise blog in book form)
